About the Project
This project started when a Culver City Girl Scout saw the need for Culver City residents to improve their relationships with food waste. It all stems from a disconnect from the true value of our food that we largely get pre-packaged and from grocery chains. We don't see the resources and labor of the food that we consume, leading to the sentiment that food is a disposable resource. To reform our relationship with food, we must shop more sustainably, locally, and grow our own produce when possible. This is where this project comes into play, Ava wants to distribute compost and seeds to make gardening more accessible for her community. As for education, the guides on this website can help you learn how to shop more sustainably, garden, and begin to reform your relationship to food waste.
